RESEARCH VOLUNTEERING

Voluntary candidatures for Associate Researcher (Ph.D. and Post Doc only):

Associate Researcher Positions are non-paid positions.

Affiliation may lead the Associate to work on specific reports in accordance with the necessities of the Budapest Centre’s Research and Cooperation Programme.

 

Affiliation may lead the Associate to become involved in temporary paid positions if funding for specific research project is financed by external partners or institutions.

INTERNSHIPS

The Budapest Centre offers a limited number of resident and non-resident internships to graduate students.

 

Qualification:
Working knowledge of English (Knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and Hungarian is an advantage);
- Computer literacy;
Interest in human rights, genocide and mass atrocities prevention issues;
Competence in the basic knowledge of International and Regional Organizations.

If the CV suits the requirements of the Budapest Centre, future interns will be asked to submit 2 reference letters before the first interview.

Status of the interns:
Interns are considered gratis personnel. They are not staff members of the Budapest Centre.
Interns may not represent the Budapest Centre or the Foundation in any official capacity.

 

Interns’ Expenses:
Interns are not financially remunerated by the Budapest Centre.
All costs connected with an intern's participation in the activities of the Budapest Centre must be borne by:
The nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students;
The student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel (including to and from the office), visas, accommodation, etc.

 

Insurance:
The Budapest Centre  accepts no responsibility for the medical and life insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship. As interns are not covered under any insurance.
Applicants for internship must show proof of valid medical and life/accident insurance for the duty station for which they will work. It must include adequate coverage in the event of an injury or illness during the internship which:
Requires transportation to the Home Country or Country of Residence for further treatment;
Results in death and requires preparation and return of the remains to the Home Country, or Country of Residence.
 
Subsequent Employment:
The purpose of the Internship is not to lead to further employment with the Budapest Centre but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
Should an offer of employment be envisaged, a 3-month break, from the end of the internship, must be respected. Interns cannot apply for posts during the period of internship.
