Board of Trustees

An International Board of Trustees, of leading experts in the field of genocide prevention, diplomacy and worldwide-recognized scholars, has been appointed to monitor and sustain the activities of the Foundation.

Andrea
Bartoli

Andrea Bartoli is Dean of School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University.

Until June 2013 he was the Dean of the School for Conflict Analisys and Resolution at George Mason University.

He has been involved in many conflict resolution activities as a member of the Community of St. Egidio.

An anthropologist from Rome, Dr. Bartoli completed his Italian Ph.D. at the University of Milan and his Laurea at the University of Rome.

Youk
Chhang

Youk Chhang is the Executive Director of the Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam) and a genocide survivor of the Khmer Rouge's "killing fields." DC-Cam grew out of Yale University's Cambodian Genocide Program (CGP) to conduct research, training and documentation relating to the Khmer Rouge regime.

The CGP founded DC-Cam as a field office in Phnom Penh in 1995 under Mr. Chhang's leadership. He continued to run the Center after its inception as an independent Cambodian NGO in 1997.

Daniel
Feierstein

Daniel Feierstein is the Director of the Centre for Genocide Studies at the National University of Tres de Febrero, Argentina, since 2006.

He holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires; Argentina, where he founded and heads the Chair of Genocide.

Currently, he is the President of the International Association for Genocide Scholars - IAGS.

Erzsebet
Kardos Kaponyi

Erzsebet Kardos Kaponyi is Dr. Habil professor of International at the Corvinus University of Budapest.

Her main human rights topics concentrates in the causes and consequences of human rights violation, prevention of human rights violation and genocide prevention, protection of people belonging to national and ethnic minorities, combating racism, xenophobia with special focus on the Roma/Gypsy, and international human rights mechanisms.

Enzo Maria
Le Fevre Cervini

Enzo Maria Le Fevre Cervini is the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees and Director for Research and Cooperation of the Budapest Centre for the International Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities, the operative body of the Foundation.

Dr. Le Fevre is a contracted professor of International Law and International Organizations at LUISS University in Rome.

Liberata Mulamula

A long-serving tanzanian diplomat, Dr. Mulamula is the Ambassador of the Republic of Tanzania to the US.

In the last few years she has served as Senior Advisor of the President of the Republic of Tanzania.

Until December 2011 she has been the Executive Secretary of Secretariat of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

Hasan
Nuhanovic

Hasan Nuhanović is a Bosniak survivor of the Srebrenica genocide who campaigns “For truth and justice” on behalf of other survivors and relatives of the victims.

Since the end of the Bosnian war Hasan Nuhanović has campaigned to establish and publicise the truth about the genocide.

He played an important part in establishing the Srebrenica Genocide Memorial at Potočari where the remains of many of the identified victims have been interred.

Paolo Francesco Rizzi

Franco Rizzi is a retired professor of European and Mediterranean History at the University “Roma Tre” in Italy.

In 1991 Franco Rizzi founded UNIMED - Mediterranean Universities Union - an Association of 84 Universities from countries in the Euro-Mediterranean basin, where he currently serves as Secretary General.

Gyorgy
Tatar
Chair

Dr. Gyorgy Tatar is the Chair of the Board of Trustees and Director of the Budapest Centre for the International Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities.

Until 2011 he has been the coordinator of the Politico-Military Group of the Council of the European Union. In the years 2004-2010 he was in charge of the Task Force for Horizontal Security Issues/Conflict Prevention in the Policy Planning and Early Warning Unit of EU High Representative for CFSP.

He is a carrier diplomat, spent 27 years in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Hungary.
